Like most embroiderers and textile artists
Our members have amassed some really wonderful collections & other artifacts over the years related textiles for example:

Treen .
Anything from wooden plates and bowls, snuff boxes and needle cases, spoons and staybusks to shoehorns and chopping boards can be classed as treen or in this case relating to embroidery
A wonderful Art Deco collection
evening bags, hats and gloves
Needlework boxes 
a fine collection of antique boxes

Chinese ethnic embroidery
19th Cent. Han silk skirt panel beautifully embroidered with silk and gold threads

European embroidery
A beautifully stitched  silk blouse from  with a matching cuff probably dates from the 1930's.  It is a pity that it never was completed as a blouse.
Embroideries from all over the world

A
piece of work done with very thick silk threads that are couched down in circular motifs on a band of open crossed bands as a background.
Wonderful piece of Indian gold and silk thread work with some beads. The pattern is equally lovely it is worked on a fine muslin fabric
A superb table runner on cream linen stitched with silk  & gold threads done into a pomegranate motif. It is possibly Turkish

OLD Embroideries
In this collection there is a nice piece of old crewel work date unknown





 

These collections are often used or shared as a basis of a study day by members or tutors, or as teaching aids in City & Guilds creative embroidery classes. A useful addition to the  programmes offered during the terms of the Wey Valley Workshop’s year.
